Online Database Description

·       CCH - [HUMAN RESOURCES AND HEALTH] - This database includes valuable information for the business administration courses.  Our patrons can obtain information in regard to law, salaries, wages, new regulations, occupational safety and much more.

·       EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES INFORMATION CENTER [ERIC] – This database supports research in the years 1966 – 2002, with full-text documents from 1993 to the present.  

·       ENCYCLOPEDIA OF LIFE SCIENCES - This electronic collection is designed to meet the demands of the community members, especially the faculty and students of the Science Programs.   It includes valuable information in the natural sciences field such as:  biology, ecology, botany, zoology, etc.  This collection also includes images, illustration and much more.  

·      HW Wilson – This database contains both general and specialized information.  Provides full-text articles and also includes online index to help the academic community with their research projects.  Some of the available indexes are:  Education Index, Reader’s Guide to Periodical Literature, Humanities Index and others.  Is important to mention that these indexes will improve the access to the paper edition journals that are available in our CAI’s Journals & Periodical Section. 

·       HISPANIC AMERICAN PERIODICAL INDEX (HAPI) - Instructions for This database is a worldwide authoritative source of information on Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, the US-Mexican border, and Hispanics in the United States.  It contains analyses of current political affairs, economics, social concerns, and unrivalled coverage of Latin American arts and literature.

• INFOTRAC – This database offers full-text journal and newspaper articles, abstracts, and citations. It contains the following:

• BIOGRAPHY RESOURCE CENTER + THE COMPLETE MARQUIS WHO’S WHO  - Simultaneously searches both sources, with information on the life and works from approximately 100,000 authors.  Includes articles from thousands of newspapers.  Provides varied information. Allows simple or advanced searches on individuals.
• BUSINESS AND COMPANY RESOURCE CENTER - Provides detailed information on approximately 448,000 businesses, including revenue, products, company history, etc.
• COMPUTER DATABASE - Includes reference material, abstracts, full-text articles, and reviews in computer science, news, electronics, engineering, communications, and uses of technology.
• EXPANDED ACADEMIC - Provides information on the arts, humanities, social sciences, education, science, and technology.
• GENERAL BUSINESS FILE - Provides analyses of the activities and status of businesses, and recent events in business, the economy, and politics.
• HEALTH AND WELLNESS  RESOURCE CENTER AND ALTERNATIVE HEALTH MODULE -  Includes information about health, medications, well being, and alternative therapies.  Includes encyclopedias, directories, medical dictionaries, journals, and newspapers.
• HEALTH REFERENCE CENTER ACADEMIC - Includes references, abstracts, and full text articles on health sciences and occupational health.
• INFORME - Includes news and current events, business news, health, popular culture, and material in Spanish.  Contains reference material, abstracts, and full-text with images.
• LEGAL TRAC – Provides articles in all major law reviews, law journals, specialty law and bar association journals and legal newspapers. Included are articles on Federal and State Cases, Laws and Regulations, Legal Practice, and Taxation. Also included are: British Commonwealth, European Union and International Law.
• LITERATURE RESOURCE CENTER - provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. Combining Gale Group's core literary databases in a single online service, the Literature Resource Center covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.
• STUDENT RESOURCE CENTER / RESEARCH AND WRITING SUPPORT SITE - Provides researchers  with cross references including critical essays, biographies, photographs and more, in the fields of history, anthropology and the sciences.  Also includes historic documents such as letters, diaries, government documents, communications, video and audio images, etc.  Includes tutorials that help students learn and strengthen research skills, supporting all aspects of research.

• MICROJURIS – This database is a legal research network including Puerto Rican jurisprudence and legislation.  It contains cases heard by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and the Circuit Court of Appeals for Puerto Rico, as well as Laws of Puerto Rico and Annotated Laws of Puerto Rico.  It also provides access to the regulations of various Puerto Rican agencies and public bodies, and has links to legal sources for the United States of America and other countries.

• NUEVO DÍA EN LÍNEA – This database provides access to full-text articles and stories published in the newspaper El Nuevo Día, from 1990 to the present. [Puerto Rico – Periodical]
   
• OCENET – This Spanish Database includes dictionaries, encyclopedias and journals.   One of the most important dictionary is the “Diccionario Literario de Obras y Autores Porto-Bompiani”, which includes biographies, summaries and analysis of the most relevant works in the universal literature. 

• OVID (CINALH Y PSYCHINFO) –  This database includes:  
• CINALH – An index of articles from professional journals in nursing and health sciences.
• PSYCHINFO – An international index of articles from professional journals, and book chapters, in psychology and related disciplines.
• BOOKS@OVID – Full-text electronic books, it includes one of the most important resources of the nursing program: Lippincott's Manual of Nursing Practice.  This book can be accessed chapter by chapter or, better still, by full-text word search. This allows effective and rapid searches.
• JOURNAL@OVID – Includes a database that permits full-text searches of journals that support the program in Health Sciences, Nursing, and Radiology Technology.  The following journal titles are available in full text: Journal of Advanced Nursing; Journal of Clinical Nursing, Nursing and Health Care Perspectives, Public Health Nursing, RN; Tecnología Radiológica; Acta Radiológica; Investigative Radiology Online and the Journal of Computer-Assisted Tomography.

• PCIP ONLINE – Corporate Puerto Rican Newspapers Indexing Project; publishes the indices of El Nuevo Día, El Vocero, Claridad, The San Juan Star, Diálogo and Agrotemas on the Internet.

   

• PDR – PHYSICIAN DESK REFERENCE - Provides access to current information on medications.
