Daily Work

Taina women preparing food:
There was a division of labor in the Taina culture. The women planted, sewed, made pottery and cooked. The men hunted, built houses, made stone implements and protected the village. From left to right: A woman shredding yuca, the principal crop; a woman making casabe bread (from yuca) on a griddle; a woman grinding corn, another of their important crops.
