Cumplimiento federal (Out of State Compliance)

El 29 de octubre de 2010, el Departamento de Educación de los Estados Unidos dio a conocer las nuevas regulaciones de identidad de programas académicos, basados en el Higher Education Opportunity Act – 2008. Para las universidades que ofrecen cursos en línea es necesario adquirir una autorización de las agencias que regulan la educación en cada estado en que ofrezcan servicio. Esta autorización es necesaria para mantener la elegibilidad de cada estudiante para recibir ayudas federales como por ejemplo las ayudas económicas. Todas las instituciones que ofrezcan cursos en línea tienen hasta el 1ro de julio de 2014 para obtener dichas aprobaciones. Antes de esta fecha es requerido que todas las instituciones demuestren, en buena fe, que están haciendo los arreglos pertinentes para cumplir con los requerimientos de cada estado en el cual ofrezcan servicios.

Para esto las instituciones que ofrezcan cursos en línea deben:

Cumplir con cualquier requerimiento de aprobación o licenciamiento de cada estado en el que opere y ser aprobado por ese estado por nombre.

Proveer a cada estudiante o futuro estudiante la información de contacto necesaria en donde pueda someter una queja formal con las agencia pertinentes de cada estado. Este punto no fue suspendido por la corte por lo que las instituciones deben proveer esta información a los estudiantes a partir del 1ro de julio de 2011.

El Recinto de Ponce, en cumplimiento con las normativas federales, es una institución participante de las iniciativas del State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Esta información se encuentra en el listado de instituciones afiliadas bajo el National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.
